Bio

Sally McGrath is a classically trained vocalist with a passion for storytelling through music. Originally from Biddeford, Maine, she recently graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia, where she studied classical voice and opera performance. She now resides in Ashburn, Virginia.

Her musical journey began on the community theatre stage, where early roles in musicals sparked a love for singing. While in high school, she began exploring classical repertoire- a path that deepened during her undergraduate studies. Today, she finds inspiration in both mezzo-soprano and soprano repertoire, embracing a wide range of roles and vocal colors as she continues to explore and develop her artistic identity.

Personal vocal highlights include placing as a finalist in the Shenandoah Conservatory Student Soloist competition, placing third at the VA NATS state competition in March 2024, and competing at MidAtlantic Regional NATS. During the summer of 2024, Ms. McGrath was an opera apprentice at the Northern Lights Music Festival, as well as participating in the AAMS Emerging Young Artist Workshop at the Kennedy Center. She assisted in running the Shenandoah Conservatory booth at the 2024 CS Music Convention, and advanced to the second round of the competition. In the Spring of 2025, she placed second in the VA NATS state competition and was part of the chorus of Shenandoah Conservatory’s production of Falstaff.

Equally drawn to opera, art song, and theatrical works, she gravitates toward music that tells emotionally rich stories. A few dream roles include Clara in The Light in the Piazza and Dorabella in Così fan tutte, reflecting her affinity for characters with nuance and emotional depth.

As she builds her career, Ms. McGrath is committed to creating honest, human performances that resonate with audiences- whether on the operatic stage, in intimate recital settings, or through new collaborative projects.
